Supporting sustainable initiatives in Zambia
We believe in responsible land management, the ethical and kind treatment of working animals and conserving the wilderness and our wildlife for future generations.
Simply put - we support initiatives that are self-motivating and sustainable in Zambia.

Initiatives We Support
EDUCATION - WILDLIFE CONSERVATION - ANIMAL WELFARE
Your stay contributes directly to the Simalaha Community Trust
We operate Zambian Horseback Safaris in the Simalaha Wildlife & Community Conservancy where we are privileged to be the sole tourism operator. Riders contribute a fee payable per person per night of which 100% proceeds the Trust. Simalaha benefits from concession fees as well as the training and employment of local peoples in the construction and running of the lodge.

Nakawa Community Academy
Help us to support Cynthia & Silumba.
An extraordinary couple living in the village of Nakawa, approximately 70kms from Victoria Falls, Zambia. Recognising the need to educate children living in remote areas surrounding their community, Cynthia and Silumba set up the Nakawa Community Academy providing two healthy meals per day and free education for 120 children - and growing! The school is supported by their onsite vegetable gardens, curio shop and campsite, with the intention of achieving self-sustainability in the future.
Support equine welfare for Working Donkeys.
We educate and support neighbouring communities in the kind and responsible ownership of working donkeys, assisting with safe and comfortable harness manufacture, diet and animal husbandry alongside local animal welfare organisations Zambezi Animal Welfare Services (ZAWS) and Zambezi Working Donkey Project. Our long-term goal is to operate a centre for animal husbandry in the Simalaha Wildlife & Community Conservancy.
Donkey Welfare
Hungry Hippo Fund
Our hippos are starving!
We are facing an unprecedented drought after the lack of rains in the 2023/2024 Rainy Season. Hippos suffer on the same scale as any other large herbivore during drought periods. Their size necessitates a minimum consumption per 24-hour period of 45kg of grass per adult animal, which will also drink up to 200 litres of water in the same period. Once summer arrives, a new challenge will be faced as the wildlife are suffering not just from lack of food but a lack of energy. Hippos have very little chance to survive under these conditions.
CSL Detection Dog Unit
Sponsor a Wildlife Detection Dog with Conservation South Luangwa.
In 2014 in partnership with Working Dogs for Conservation, CSL introduced Zambia’s first ever wildlife detection dog unit in South Luangwa. The dogs and handlers are trained to conduct road block searches and intelligence based searches, seeking ivory, firearms and ammunition, pangolin, leopard skins, mukula wood and certain species of bush meat. From October to December 2021, the K9 team carried out 62 operations which led to 30 arrests and the recovery of 30kg of ivory, which included the confiscation of 4 elephant tusks.
ZAWS
Pledge your ongoing support to Zambezi Animal Welfare Services (ZAWS) a non-profit organization established in 2014. ZAWS programs include education, community veterinary outreach, sterilization and rescue within Livingstone and our community. ZAWS offers a variety of educational programs including presentations at local schools, educational lectures and interactive sessions. ZAWS values are that of respect and compassion.
